INTRODUCTION

How can corner chairs designed to be more modern and adaptable for today’s living spaces?

Corner chairs aren’t the most popular category in the furniture market and there aren’t a lot of modern options available. However, they do offer a unique blend of style and functionality by optimizing space in smaller rooms or adding a distinctive design element to larger areas.

OBJECTIVE

This opportunity prompted my desire to develop a contemporary corner chair while addressing the practical challenge of flat packing. I integrated the flat-packing design principles of PearsonLloyd’s Cross Chair with woven string elements inspired by Haugesen’s String Chair.
